1. Where are the fanedits/download links?

Fanedit.org doesn’t host or link to fanedits. You can usually find what you’re looking for at alternate sites such as Fanedit Central or Fanedit Info. Reach out to the editor using our forums. You will need to be a registered user to do this. If all else fails, the Fanedit.org community have also put together a Google Doc of other editors who may be able to help you find what you’re looking for.

2. Why don’t you link to fanedits?

Fanedit.org has been shut down by the MPA (formerly MPAA) in the past for this very reason. To maintain an amicable relation with them and the copyright owners, we felt that it would be in the best interest of all those involved to focus the site on its community, news, and database of quality fanedits.

3. I don’t have the bandwidth to download a fanedit. Can I buy it instead?

While this practice is generally frowned upon due to possible abuse, we understand not everyone has access to high speed internet or zero data caps. If money is exchanged it shouldn’t total more than the cost of the physical media (e.g. DVD/Blu-ray), packaging, and shipping.

4. Oh No! My favorite fanedit download site is down! What do I do now?

As we are not affiliated with any of those sites, please don’t contact us about it. Those sites are independently run and we have no relationship with them.

5. There’s a fanedit I want but can’t find. What should I do?

If you can’t find a fanedit you’re looking for with one of the services mentioned above, try reaching out to the faneditor in our forums. (You will need to be a registered user to do this.) Be sure you’re polite when requesting a fanedit as some editors won’t respond if they feel you’re being rude.

If an editor is not a member of our site or they don’t respond within a reasonable time frame, feel free to ask in the Trade & Request forum. This is the only forum in which you should make requests for fanedits.

6. DLC? NZB? TORRENT? What are they and how do they work?

DLC and NZB are container files that contain encrypted links making downloading fanedits easier. DLC are used with digital lockers such as Mega and Rapidshare while NZB is used for usenet. If you want to download a fanedit using a DLC file you’ll need a program such as jDownloader to open the DLC. For NZB you’ll need a program like SABnzbd, and for TORRENTS you will need a program like Qbittorrent.

It should be noted that digital lockers are generally free while usenet requires a small investment for access. This is not a service Fanedit.org provides, so look in our forums for suggestions from its members. Some faneditors share their edits via torrent — either private or public. While private torrents are generally safe and free from prying eyes, public is, well, public. Regardless of what service you use, it is generally recommended to use a VPN for added privacy. Fanedit.org is not responsible if you receive a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice from your internet provider.

7. I’ve made my own fanedit! How do I submit it?

New faneditors require their edits be vetted by a member of the Fanedit.org Academy. The Academy consists of people the administrators and moderators trust to look at new edits with a critical eye to ensure they meet the standards we’ve set to be listed in our database. Before you can submit a fanedit you must be an Active member of the site. Active members are those who have been registered for 30 days and have made at least 5 posts.

Go to the First Time Fanedit Submission page for more details as well as the submission form. To access this page you must be signed in.

Established faneditors need only go to the Fanedit Database and sign in. Click on User Menu and then Fanedit Submission.

8. The Academy Member/Faneditor rejected my edit! What should I do?

Academy Members and Faneditors in good standing have proven themselves of being impartial when reviewing edits. They know the standards the community expects from IFDB, so if you’d like your edit listed in the Fanedit Database it’s suggested you review their critique and make the necessary changes. They aren’t trying to be malicious but are in fact trying to help you, so don’t take it personally. Once you’ve made the changes, simply resubmit your edit.

9. I registered but haven’t received my authorization email!

Check your spam/junk folder first. If it’s not there then contact us.

10. How do I reset my password?

You can reset your password here. If that doesn’t work please contact us.

11. How can I delete my account?

If you haven’t written any reviews on IFDB or made any posts in our forum your account can be deleted. If you have written a review or posted in our forum we won’t delete your account but will deactivate it. In either case contact us.
