Marketing - 300 vs Valhalla Rising

So, I'd not seen these right next to each other. This is in Asda(England):

VR is nothing like 300. But you can see that the marketers are banking on 300 to sell VR - which, given the strange atmosphere of VR, it might need. The cover of VR is a complete mislead. I thought it was interesting though.

Funnily enough, the DVD to the right of VR was Cheaper By The Dozen. Hmmmm.

That cheap shot is nothing new. Look at how they marketed the DVD release of Quest of the Delta Knights, a 1993 cheapie that you may have seen on MST3K:

No, really? But it looks such top quality? I mean anything with the same cover as LotR must kick ass? ;-)
