What are FanEdits, and why make them? FanEdits are an artform where someone takes a video source/sources and rearranges them with video editing software to create either a modified, or even radically new version of a movie.

The Last Man on Earth by Stomachworm is a fanedit of I am a Legend
Stomachworm:
"Upon viewing I Am Legend for the first time I felt that it was an okay movie but I also felt that it could have been better if there were a bit more plot and character building. I was disappointed that there weren't any deleted scenes on the DVD releases or so I thought. I found the 3 Disc package DOES HAVE deleted scenes. After my amazon package arrived I anxiously watched the deleted scenes and the "alternate version" and low and behold I found the rest of the movie I was looking for. So I set out to make I Am Legend seem more like a complete movie. I feel that "The Last Man On Earth" helps I Am Legend to finally reach it's full potential."

The Last of the Mo'Ricans by Adabisi is a fanedit of Carlito's Way.
All scenes involving and referencing the Gail character have been removed. This is the story of a former gangster trying to lead a normal life.
Adabisi:
"I'm a huge fan of gangster movies, but can't stand the romance angle that's always tacked on to them. Ask anyone what the best parts of Donnie Brasco, Casino, Heat, etc are and no one will say "the love story". Carlito's Way is no different. When we're focusing on Carlito the (former) gangster - great. When we're focusing on Carlito and Gail's relationship - meh. So, I decided to remove the character of Gail, and all references to her, completely from the movie. I also decided to remove Pachanga's betrayal. Because with Gail gone, it was just too cruel to have him go out with no friends."

Scrooge: The Literary Cut by Dwight Fry is a fanedit of Scrooge (1951)
The classic 1951 version of A Christmas Carol rendered more faithful to its literary source via the removal of the events created specifically for the screen, and visually reshaped for a fresh viewing experience.
Dwight Fry:
"The widely beloved 1951 movie starring Alastair Sim is the definitive adaptation of A Christmas Carol for many people, yet it felt the need to expand upon the book by adding new sequences that in my view damage the balance of the narration making it lean too much towards the Christmas Past segments in detriment of the rest. The intention with this edit is constructing a more balanced narrative by removing those additions. Furthermore, a new visual style (which I will not spoil here) has been implemented throughout, based on an old idea of mine from way before I knew about fanedits, on a style that I always thought would fit this story perfectly and is how I would have filmed it."
