This past week 2 different websites showed some love to the world of fanediting.

Jaws 3D Blog Reviews LastSurvivor's Jaws III Monster

Inline Image Romain Christmann runs a blog dedicated to Jaws 3D (!) and he recently sat down to watch LastSurvivor's Jaws III Monster fanedit. You can read his review here (SPOILERS!). (The site is in French but can be translated to English by clicking the UK flag at the top of the site.)

Romain: "Thank you for this item which proves once again that Jaws 3D continues almost 30 years later to inspire people to the 4 corners of the world. So thank you to James for his work and his passion for convincing me to be less critical of the concept of Fanediting!"

If you've seen LastSurvivor's "Making Of" documentary on his Jaws III Monster edit you'll be familiar with the website already. If you haven't, check out the plethora of information Romain has collected pertaining to Jaws 3D.

Spanish Film Magazine Writes About The World of Fanediting

Inline Image Filmeweb wrote an article about the world of fanediting and name dropped Adabisi and CBB, along with mentioning a few other edits.

You can read the Spanish article here and the English tranlastion here (via Google translation).

The article specifically talks about Adabisi's "Reservoir Dogs: The Black & White Edition", CBB's "The Matrix DeZIONized" and mentions fanedits of The X-Files ("X-Files - Exordium" by Throwgncpr), LOST ("LOST: The Miniseries" by DriggyDriggs), The Walking Dead ("Walking Dead Apocalypse" by g1orkatsos), The Wizard of Oz ("Wizard of Oz Special Extended Edition" by ADigitalMan) and goes on to mention that there are various fanedits of Superman movies, Batman movies and X-Men movies.

Oh, and what franchise did not get mentioned? Not one word about the fanedits created for those movies?

    ...

    ...

    ...

Star Wars. Let that one sink in for a minute.

Faneditor Neglify stabs us all again with his second fanedit in the world of Scream!
He won Fanedit of the Month for September 2012 with Scream – The Giallo Cut

Scream – The Giallo Cut is a love letter to Italian horror cinema, Dario Argento, Goblin and the original Scream.

Neglify: "I never tried to make Scream feel like BLANK movie. Even though the primary music used was from Suspiria, I wasn’t trying to make the plot, dialogue, characters and events more like Suspiria. I'm not trying to change Scream from being Scream too much as I love that movie and think it is perfect how it is. Nor am I trying to replace Scream. I did see some opportunities to tone down the meta aspects of Scream but it’s still a horror film about people who know and love horror films.
This edit was sourced from the uncut VHS of Scream. This was done primarily as a throwback to the picture quality of Italian horror films from the 70s."

    Congratulations Neglify!

Inline Image Get ready for a new onslaught of Star Wars Fanedits, kids.

It has just been reported that Disney is acquiring the rights to Lucasfilm, yes, that Lucasfilm. I'm a little too stunned to try and get into too much detail, so here it is, straight from the mouses mouth:

Global leader in high-quality family entertainment agrees to acquire world-renowned Lucasfilm Ltd, including legendary STAR WARS franchise.

Acquisition continues Disney's strategic focus on creating and monetizing the world's best branded content, innovative technology and global growth to drive long-term shareholder value.

Lucasfilm to join company's global portfolio of world class brands including Disney, ESPN, Pixar, Marvel and ABC.

STAR WARS: EPISODE 7 feature film targeted for release in 2015.
The Walt Disney Company (NYSE: DIS) has agreed to acquire Lucasfilm Ltd. in a stock and cash transaction. Lucasfilm is 100% owned by Lucasfilm Chairman and Founder, George Lucas.
Under the deal, Disney will acquire ownership of Lucasfilm, a leader in entertainment, innovation and technology, including its massively popular and "evergreen" Star Wars franchise and its operating businesses in live action film production, consumer products, animation, visual effects, and audio post production. Disney will also acquire the substantial portfolio of cutting-edge entertainment technologies that have kept audiences enthralled for many years. Lucasfilm, headquartered in San Francisco, operates under the names Lucasfilm Ltd., LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, and Skywalker Sound, and the present intent is for Lucasfilm employees to remain in their current locations.

Kathleen Kennedy, current Co-Chairman of Lucasfilm, will become President of Lucasfilm, reporting to Walt Disney Studios Chairman Alan Horn. Additionally she will serve as the brand manager for Star Wars, working directly with Disney's global lines of business to build, further integrate, and maximize the value of this global franchise. Ms. Kennedy will serve as executive producer on new Star Wars feature films, with George Lucas serving as creative consultant. Star Wars Episode 7 is targeted for release in 2015, with more feature films expected to continue the Star Wars saga and grow the franchise well into the future.
    And from The Maker (Lucas):
"For the past 35 years, one of my greatest pleasures has been to see Star Wars passed from one generation to the next," said George Lucas, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Lucasfilm. "It's now time for me to pass Star Wars on to a new generation of filmmakers. I've always believed that Star Wars could live beyond me, and I thought it was important to set up the transition during my lifetime. I'm confident that with Lucasfilm under the leadership of Kathleen Kennedy, and having a new home within the Disney organization, Star Wars will certainly live on and flourish for many generations to come. Disney's reach and experience give Lucasfilm the opportunity to blaze new trails in film, television, interactive media, theme parks, live entertainment, and consumer products."
This is all of course subject to approval of several antitrust regulations, but I can't see this not happening. I have no more words. Not sure of I should be happy or sad here. MIND. BLOWN.

The Butcher gives you his Halloween gift: A Fanedit of Halloween H20: Twenty Years Later.

    The Butcher:
"While some fans were disappointed to see Halloween 4, 5 and 6 retconned out of the official continuity, I didn’t really mind, even though I am a fan of these entries as well. Because I adore trilogies, I enjoy thinking of Halloween, Halloween II and Halloween H20 as a very satisfying horror trilogy starring Laurie Strode, Michael Myers and their terrifying dynamic.
Although H20 was a very worthy entry that featured a perfect ending, I think it lacked some elements that could have easily made it better.
With all the material at my disposition, I tried to make H20 closer in style, tone and execution to its predecessors (Halloween and Halloween II)
