That sucks, L8. Don't let it get ya down too much... Things are only as negative as we perceive them to be.

I hate AVCHD. Once again, I author a disc properly only to have it fail to play on Panasonic players. GDISM! It's a troublesome, poorly-supported format, and I'm through with it.

I started downloading something last night from Megashares, and being that I don't have a premium account I was only able to get 550 MB's before being told to wait two hours to download again. It was rather late so I turned off my computer and went to bed. Today I go to continue the download but I get a "host error" message. I stopped and started it again and now I'm getting that damn "Plug-in (out of date)" message. So I checked if there were any updates, and there was 1, so I updated. You'd think that would solve the problem? Nope, not at all. So I decided to just give up and deleted the 550 MB partial file.

Then I went looking for an alternative to jDownloader and found MiPony, which I quickly installed. The file started downloading without any trouble. The file was over 2 GB's in size so it took me all day to finally grab the whole thing. Then I checked the folder and was about to move the file to another folder when I decided to delete the listing from my Download Queue. Bad f'ing idea. Apparently when you delete something from the Download Queue you're not only deleting the listing, but the file itself from the MiPony folder. The file didn't even go to Recycle Bin, it just vanished.

I tried running a search for the file, and using Glary Utilities File Undelete option, but zero, zip, nada, fuck all. So now I just wasted nearly 3 GB's of my 60 GB monthly cap for nothing. Might as well make it 5 GB's actually since I'm going to have to download the file again. Next time I'm going to make sure to copy the file to my flash drive first, then move it to another folder before deleting the listing to see if it still deletes the file or if I'm safe as long as I move it out of the MiPony folder first.

dayumn, frantic. i thought this post was going to be about the dawning realization that you entered more than 2000 reviews, thereby explaining the loss of your fingerprints. (thank you again, comrade!)

Some good news. I figured out what I did wrong. Apparently if you click on the listing and hit the DELETE button it asks you "Are you sure you want to cancel file name and size?" How stupid of me to think that it would just delete the listing if the file was already fully downloaded. I mean what's there to cancel if I've already downloaded the full thing, right? Then I tried right-clicking the listing and saw an option labeled "Remove from list", so I clicked that. And guess what? It only deleted the listing, not the actual file. Woo-hoo! Glad I got that figured out. Hopefully somebody else will read this and avoid the mistake I made.
