  • Welcome to the World of FanEdits!

What are FanEdits, and why make them? FanEdits are an artform where someone takes a video source/sources and rearranges them with video editing software to create either a modified, or even radically new version of a movie.

samspider3 has released a new fanedit: 'The Hobbit: Part 2'.

The Hobbit Part 2 is the sequel to The Hobbit Part 1, and it's basically The Battle of the Five Armies, but with some differences and cuts to make a perfect continuity with SamSpider's earlier fanedit.

    samspider3:
"Unlike many people here, I actually enjoyed The Battle of the Five Armies, with some weak points we all know, like that absurd love triangle or Alfrid as the Jar Jar Binks of the story, but overall I was very sastified with the film, but I still believed it needed some modifications to make it way more enjoyable, especially with the fact the film lacked something, reason I decided to wait for the Extended Edition to finish this project. My main intention in this Fan edit is to make a connection between my last fan edit and this one, and also make sure to deliver a better conclusion of the story which should have been 2 parts since the beginning.

This fan edit is more aimed to people who actually liked The Hobbit Trilogy, especially The Battle of the Five Armies. This is most likely a respectful job to what Peter Jackson wanted to show, but some little help here and there from my hand. Many of the proposed cuts in the other fan edits of the trilogy might be not present neither in Hobbit Part 1 or Hobbit Part 2."

NewSpock has released a new fanedit: 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer (1992) Reimagined'.

The 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' movie formed into a real origin story for Buffy, that can now be enjoyed as a prequel to the TV show.

    NewSpock:
"Buffy the Vampire Slayer (the TV show) is one of my favorite TV shows of all time. But the TV show misses the origin of Buffy, how she became the slayer, she comes to Sunnydale already being a slayer, already having fought vampires in LA.

Five years before the TV show, there was a Buffy movie released (in 1992) with a different actress (Kristy Swanson) playing the character of Buffy and there an origin story can be found. But that movie didn't seem to take its story and characters seriously and was played for camp. So this edit, removes the overly ridiculous stuff, making the characters take themselves and the story more seriously, adding a bit more drama and restructuring the story."

Problem Eliminator has released a new fanedit: 'Spider-Man: "The Alien Costume" Recut'.

The 1994 Spider-Man animated series three-parter “The Alien Costume” is recut to play as a single feature.

    Problem Eliminator:
"I wanted to present the best possible version of what is easily the definitive telling of Spider-Man's symbiote story. Production errors, poor animation and weak writing are also removed. It’s a classic Spidey story, and it’s even better than you remember!"

samspider3 has released a new fanedit: 'Lord of the Rings: The Battle for Middle-Earth'.

'The Battle for Middle Earth' is 'The Two Towers' and 'Return of the King' told from Aragorn and Company's point of view. We will not see anything about Frodo and Sam's Quest, and doing so, we can focus entirely on a single adventure.

    samspider3:
"This project came out as a response of my Lord of the Rings fan edit, the Journey to Mordor, where we see the adventure told from the point of view of Frodo and Sam. By providing The Battle for Middle-Earth, I'm giving you an alternative way to watch The Lord of the Rings story, beginning with The Fellowship of the Ring, followed by The Battle for Middle-Earth Parts 1 and 2 and finally the Journey to Mordor."

Agent9 has won September's Favorite Edit of the Month with his Man of Steel: Remastered edit!

This Version of 'Man of Steel' has been edited down a bit for a slightly faster pace, while it also has been completely re-Colored and Re-scored using the Classic john Williams soundtrack.

From Agent9: "While I liked the Hanz Zimmer score, it still didn't feel like Superman to me, so I re-Scored the entire film with the John Williams Score and re-cut the film in a more traditional fashion, trying the best I could to match the original 78' Version, and also got rid of the sickly green overtone carried throughout the film."

Congratulations to all the other entries as well!
