[notphone]This week we have four new edits, three Star Trek and one Star Wars.
This project began as a modification of Hal9000’s “Labyrinth of Evil” edit, but its scope expanded quickly. At first I meant only to re-insert the Yoda/Palpatine fight. Then I began replacing every shot with the raw blu ray source, which looked a lot better than the HDTV source Hal9000 used. Bit by bit it became its own entity.
In the time of the space age, a future ship’s crew lands on a planet on a mission of peaceful first contact. The distrusting inhabitants, however, punish the spacemen for their intrusion, by recreating a famous Western gunfight, with the men forced to take on the roles of the ill-fated cowboys.
This edit combines together the stories ‘The Naked Time’, ‘Tomorrow is Yesterday’ and ‘Assignment: Earth’ into a three-weekly story arc, with each episode leading into the next, with the premise that the Enterprise is stuck in time, or is at odds with time.
Another one of those edits where most of the changes come towards the end. As a fun experiment, this is all of Star Trek III, only it’s had material from Star Trek IV added to it. There is no mystery probes, no humpback whales, and no time travel to the 80s. Kirk and Company make a relatively short voyage home (hence the title), get pardoned (for stopping the Klingons, not for saving the earth), and set sail on new voyages in a new Enterprise.
