[notphone]Last week we didn’t have any new fanedits on IFDB, so it should come as no surprise that this week we have seven. And of those seven it should be even less surprising we have three Halloween edits.
Kirk Kills by Darth Awesome – I edited Halloween (1978) and Halloween II (1981) into one 97 minute movie, with a new prologue that explains how Michael “became” Captain Kirk. William Shatner was kind enough to provide the voice of The Shape (via dialog samples). I also added a funky new soundtrack.
Halloween: 10 Years of Terror by Ryantology – Halloween: 10 Years of Terror tells a complete version of the Michael Myers story in a condensed fashion. Following his original massacre in 1978 and then his return in 1988, the edit simply tries to show that whether in one form or another, evil never truly dies.
Halloween 5: The Shape of Rage by LastSurvivor – Halloween 5 was made just a year after the impressive Halloween 4, and the fact that the script was unfinished before filming began is just one contributing factor to the feeling that the whole film feels rushed and somewhat underdeveloped. Having said that, there are some good scenes in the film, particularly involving Dr Loomis and Jamie Lloyd, and it boasts a finale well worth sticking around for. This fanedit will attempt to streamline, and refocus the film to be about the three central characters – Loomis, Myers and Jamie – redundant scenes and characters will be heavily trimmed or totally excised.
The Hobbit: Bloat Free Edition by whenwasiborn – As the title suggests, this edit removes all the unnecessary bloat that was added to the trilogy. Clocking in at just over five hours, this film aims to be as close as possible to what Jackson would’ve created in the originally planned two-part saga.
Lean on Pete: Featuring the Music of Richmond Fontaine by Last Impressions – The author of Lean on Pete, Willy Vlautin is not only an incredible writer, he is also the front man and guitarist of one of the finest Americana bands of the last twenty years. It is almost a crime that the film adaptation of Willy’s movies are often relegated to the end credits. Although some of the original score by James Edward Barker remains i wanted to highlight Richmond Fontaine’s music and bring it to the films forefront.
X-Men: Days of Future Past – The Rogueless Cut by Bobson Dugnutt – In 2023, the entire human race is on the brink of extinction. Sentinels, originally created to kill mutants now hunt all of mankind. The remaining survivors cannot stand against the onslaught of the Sentinel army. In order to save the future, Wolverine is sent back to 1973 in order to stop the war before it even starts.
Blade Runner 2049: New Vangelis Cut by Problem Eliminator – What would a modern day Blade Runner score by Vangelis sound like? This edit rescores Blade Runner 2049 with new music from the composer’s 2016 album Rosetta and his Blade Runner tribute album from 2007. The music is supplemented by some earlier Vangelis tracks, as well as material by John Barry and others. No music from the original Blade Runner is used, except when sampled by Vangelis on the BR tribute album. In addition, the edit is approx. 15 minutes shorter, mainly from trimming Wallace’s scenes to a minimum and cutting Gaff and Rachael.[/notphone]
